SEVIS Fee Information

(USCIS requirement as of September 1, 2004)

The U.S. government requires that all international students and scholars pay an additional $100 fee when applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa. The fee is required under SEVIS and is to be used to cover the costs of the operation of the program.

How do I pay the SEVIS fee?

1. Make sure to complete the Form I-901 online and pay the fee at least 3 business days before applying your visa interview to allow time for processing.
   
2. Complete the Form I-901 with information from your I-20 or DS-2019. You will also need the following information for the form:
1. School code: POO214F00001000
2. SEVIS ID number: N000____________ (please copy the number found above the bar code on your I-20 or DS-2019)
   
3. Pay the required $100 fee online with a credit or debit card (See FAQ web site below for information on how to pay using Western Union)
   
4. Print your receipt.
   
5. Bring your receipt to your visa interview at the embassy or consulate.
   You must have your receipt for your visa interview.
